  4. Our site uses forms in which you give us contact information (like your name, address, and email address) so you can take the exam, request information and support, and make site suggestions. We use your customer information only when it will be important for us to contact you regarding functionality changes to our products, our web site, new services, and special offers we think you'll find valuable. Only those users who choose to take the AMERICAN BOAT OPERATORS’ Online Course certification exam will be asked to provide specific user information.
  5. You are free to visit the AMERICAN BOAT OPERATOR’S Online Course as often as you like, including the Practice Test pages without identifying yourself. However once you take and pass the Final Certification Exam, we request personal information, including your name, birth date, gender, city and state and e-mail address. This information is required by your state to issue your BOAT OPERATORS safety certification card. In addition, you will be required to pay for the Certification Exam by supplying a valid credit card number, expiration date and name.
  6. The personal information you supply to AMERICAN BOATING EDUCATION will not be disclosed outside of AMERICAN BOATING EDUCATION, except to securely transfer the personal data to the your home state for verification of your boater education identification card. Your credit card information will be used only for processing the fee(s) related to taking the online certification exam.
  7. We may use third-party advertising companies to serve ads on our behalf. These companies may employ cookies and action tags (also known as single pixel gifs or web beacons) to measure advertising effectiveness. Any information that these third parties collect via cookies and action tags is completely anonymous.
  8. We use information gathered about you from our site statistics (for example your IP address) to help diagnose problems with our server, and to administer our Web site. We also gather broad demographic information from this data to help us improve our site and make your browsing and purchasing experience more enjoyable. Sending E-mails

*We use emails to communicate with you, to confirm your placed orders, and to send information that you have requested. We also provide email links, as on our About AMERICAN BOATING EDUCATION page, to allow you to contact us directly. We strive to promptly reply to your messages.

Changes in Our Practices

If we change our information handling practices or other privacy aspects, we will post those changes on this privacy statement, at least 30 days prior to their implementation. We will also notify you directly via email.

Service Provider

We use a credit card processing company to bill users for services. These companies do not retain, share, store or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes.

Contests

From time-to-time our site requests information from users via surveys or contests. Participation in these surveys or contests is completely voluntary and the user therefore has a choice whether or not to disclose this information. American Boating Education stores this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time email. Parents of minor students may contact our Privacy Coordinator at our mailing address. Please include your e-mail address and telephone number where we can reach you. AMERICAN BOATINGEDUCATION takes steps to verify the identity of anyone requesting information about a child and to ensure that the person is in fact the child’s parent or legal guardian. AMERICAN BOATINGEDUCATION fully complies with the Federal Trade Commission's COPPA Act - Children's Online Privacy Protection Act and follows state guidelines for compliance for each state boater education course we offer.
