Washington Boat Operators' Course

Welcome to a great Internet boating safety course!

Your official state boating agency, Washington State Parks, accepts and authorizes the American Boat Operator online course as satisfying the requirement to take and pass a boater education course prior to receiving your official Washington State Boater Education Card.

The American Boat Operator course is officially approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) and recognized by the United States Coast Guard.

When you successfully pass the final test, you will be awarded a recognized boating education course completion certificate that shows proof of meeting the prerequisite requirements to be issued the Washington State Boater Education Card.

Not only will passing this course help you meet official legal requirements – you may get an insurance premium discount of 5 –10% when you contact your insurance agent!

Click on each of the chapters. Read the material, paying close attention to those topics that will keep you safe on the water and prevent you from getting a ticket!

Make sure to take the end of chapter quizzes. When you’re ready, take the 60-question practice exam – free of charge. The practice exam is automatically graded, so you will be able to track your progress.

Once you’ve read the study material and mastered the quizzes and practice exam, enter the “Final Test” portion of the site. The final test is very similar to the practice exam. There are no trick questions and each question is multiple choice (4 possible answers to each question). PASSING THE FINAL TEST ALLOWS YOU TO PURCHASE YOUR OFFICIALLY APPROVED BOATER CERTIFICATE!

Your boater certificate can be paid for using a credit card on our secure server. Once you receive your course completion certificate, fill out the Washington State Parks Boater Education Card application. Along with the application, Washington State requires a $10.00 fee.
