COMMERCIAL LICENSING

If you take consideration (money, gifts, etc.) for passage on your boat, you are required by federal law to be licensed.  Many states are requiring guide licenses.  There is a list of Coast Guard approved schools at http://www.uscg.mil/STCW/m-pers.htm.
