Chapter Review

EXHAUST MUFFLERS

The manufacturers of recreational boats are required to construct boats using efficient muffling devices. State laws prevent the use of boats without efficient muffling devices, and many states require the devices to prevent noise levels at established decibel ratings. Boat operators should always maintain muffling systems that prevent unacceptable noise levels.\

In Delaware all vessels equipped with an engine must be effectively muffled by equipment constructed and used to muffle the noise of the exhaust in a reasonable manner.
